I know what it feels like to be utterly exhausted by the work of ministry. I have suffered through that fire, and I burned out hard.
Pastors are entering ministry, passionate about serving God and serving others. Faithful individuals are responding to a call to lead churches into spiritual maturity.
But what ends up happening is pastors are expected to act more like entrepreneurs as opposed to spiritual leaders. It's as if churches are not expecting a pastor to lead as a shepherd, but as a religious version of Steve Jobs.
But there is another way to live as a pastor. There is a better way to lead a church.
In the aftermath of my burnout, I found a new system of practices that changed everything for me. I say new, but it's actually quite ancient. It has been available to us all along, for those willing to find it.
